Managing year-round contentment shouldn’t be something that you have to worry about every time you switch between your air conditioner and furnace as the temperatures change. While you certainly don’t long to have to even think about the possibility of your furnace going out in the middle of winter, it can be a realistic possibility with every fleeting year – especially if you’re not keeping up with annual furnace service.
At Levy & Son, we recognize that having the make a call in the middle of the night, on one of the lowest temperature nights in Dallas isn’t on any list of to-dos that you have, but it’s important to note that we should be your immediate call. Regardless of the hour, the team at Levy & Son has a NATE-certified technician available 24/7/365 to be there in your stage of need. We can help get your furnace back up and functioning so everything can get back to normal and you can start enjoying the comforts of your space once again.
Regardless of the make, model or age of your furnace, we have the intelligence required to get your system back up and running rapidly and correctly, the first time. We equate the repair process to having a doctor do a checkup, prepare a diagnosis and then work to adjust the issue.
However, before giving us a call, there are a few things that you should remember:
- Is your thermostat set to “heat”? – when the weather finally turns and it is time to turn on your furnace, it’s common to forget to flip the switch over to “heat” for the winter. And believe it or not, it’s more normal than you’d think. Do a simple check to make sure yours is set correctly.
- Furnace switch – it looks like a regular light switch, but it manages your furnace. It should be in the Up, or On, position.
Once On, your furnace won’t start up rapidly, but does turn on in a couple minutes as there are built-in delays in most systems.
- Furnace filter – filters are often forgotten about, but are one of the largest culprits when it comes to inefficient work and poor performance for your furnace. Make sure you change your filter every one to three months to have better performance.
- Circuit breaker – if your furnace is not working, check the emergency shut off and your breaker. Cycle it by switching them off, then on again. If the system still doesn’t work, call us to help you dispose of the source of the matter.
*If you notice a strong gas smell, call Levy & Son immediately.
